For a region worth living in
Education, sport, culture and the certainty that someone will help when needed are as much a part of modern life as energy and water. That is why we support clubs and organisations in their important work for society. From popular sports and successful Bundesliga teams to kindergartens, schools, museums, fire brigades and social projects such as the Tour of Hope.

Sport
Stadtwerke Gießen promotes both professional and popular sports by supporting professional teams such as the GIESSEN 46ers as well as sports clubs that are dedicated to youth work and popular sports. With the "Play your game" campaign, we also help projects that make exercise fun for children and support less recognised sports.

Social commitment
Stadtwerke Gießen honours the commitment of volunteer fire brigades in the "Fire brigade of the future" competition. We have also been supporting the "Tour of Hope", a charitable event that raises funds for the fight against childhood cancer, for almost 30 years.

Culture and education
Stadtwerke Gießen firmly believes that cultural events play an important role in society. That is why we are happy to contribute to their success. Supporting various educational institutions, such as the Mathematikum in Giessen, is also a matter close to our hearts.
Our commitment to the region
Our commitment is as diverse as our everyday life. As a municipal utility, we not only make our contribution in terms of energy. We also benefit the region financially. We pay taxes and duties here in Central Hesse. And because most of our employees naturally live and shop in the local area, their income also benefits the local economy. We also commission companies based in Central Hesse whenever possible, thus ensuring that our customers' money is ultimately invested in their jobs. This means that around 30 % of every euro we earn goes back to Giessen and the region.
Play your game

The name of our sponsorship campaign - "Play your game" - is the programme. It's all about helping children to get active through play and enabling young people to develop their sporting skills. Our support is not limited to one type of sport or to clubs. We also want to support schools or private initiatives that give children the chance to take part in organised sport. This could involve repairing or replacing defective sports equipment, for example.
Applying for sponsorship is easy with an online form that clubs can complete and add a video to. We review each application and let you know at short notice whether we will support the project and, if so, in what form.
