But where can you find an apprenticeship that matches your own skills and inclinations, leads to a qualified profession and is also fun? At Stadtwerke Gießen, training is an important goal of the company. After all, the company bears great responsibility for an entire region. In addition to supplying vital energy and water, the company, with around 800 employees, also ensures mobility in the region and attractive leisure facilities in Giessen's swimming pools.

We provide training in a total of seven professions that are linked by one important aspect: They are likely to continue to be of central importance in the future.

Industrial clerk

If you are good with figures, can keep an overview in stressful situations and enjoy presenting in front of groups, an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk with us is just the thing for you.

Electronics technician for industrial engineering

If you like tinkering and discovering and solving technical problems, an apprenticeship as an electronics technician for industrial engineering offers you exciting challenges.

Specialist for swimming pool operations

If water is your element and you enjoy teaching children how to swim and mastering technical tasks, then training as a pool attendant at SWG could be just right for you.

IT specialist for system integration

If you know your PC inside out and are interested in how programmes work, an apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration could be just the thing for you.

Automotive mechatronics technician for commercial vehicles

If you are enthusiastic about cars and enjoy working on them, our apprenticeship as an automotive mechatronics technician in the field of commercial vehicle technology is ideal for you.

Plant mechanic for pipe system technology

If you like to get stuck in and it makes you happy when things work, then training as a plant mechanic for pipe system technology is perfect for you.

Professional driver for passenger transport

If technology is your thing, you like driving and enjoy working with people, training as a professional driver is ideal.

FAQs about training at SWG:

Training starts every year with our trainee start weeks in the first two weeks of August (for all training occupations).

For your application, we need your cover letter, your CV and your last two school reports (annual and interim report).

You can apply to Stadtwerke Gießen as long as the apprenticeship position is advertised in our job portal.

Once we have received your application, we will first review your documents. If we are impressed by them, we will invite you to a recruitment test as a first step. If you pass the recruitment test, the second step is to invite you to an interview. If you convince us in the interview, we will be happy to decide in your favour and conclude a training contract with you.

Remuneration according to the collective agreement for trainees in the public sector (TVAöD)

  • 1st year of training: € 1218.26
  • 2nd year of training: € 1268.20
  • 3rd year of training: € 1314.02
  • 4th year of training: € 1377.59

Remuneration according to the collective agreement of the LHO for trainees as professional drivers for passenger transport

  • 1st year of training: €930
  • 2nd year of training: € 950
  • 3rd year of training: €1050
  • 4th year of training: €1125

Training takes place at our subsidiary MIT.BUS GmbH.
