Welcome to the e-revolution.

E-roof and e-storage, 100 % energy. 100 % regenerative.

E-roof and E-storage are the all-round carefree solutions from Stadtwerke Gießen for photovoltaics and electricity storage. Tailored to your individual needs and energy goals. Decide now in favour of a photovoltaic system from Stadtwerke Gießen and benefit in several ways.

With E-Dach, you can generate 100% renewable electricity for your own use at home using only the power of the sun, increase your independence, reduce your energy costs, ensure a liveable environment and increase the value of your property at the same time.

With E-Dach, you can plan for the future, as your costs remain constant for every kilowatt hour you generate yourself. Regardless of whether the price of electricity from the public grid rises.

The ideal complement to E-Roof is our E-Storage offer. With the help of an electricity storage system, you can store surplus solar power generated during the day and use it when you need it. Solar power that you do not consume yourself can be fed into the public grid and receive a legally stipulated remuneration.

We offer you the option of buying or leasing your e-roof and e-storage system - for maximum financing flexibility.

With the purchase model, you as the owner refinance the costs of the system by reducing your energy costs. Alternatively, the lease model offers you a constant monthly instalment over 20 years - without a high initial investment. Stadtwerke Gießen owns the system and assumes the costs for maintenance, servicing and insurance cover for the system. As the operator, you use the solar power for your own use and receive the legally stipulated remuneration when it is fed into the public grid.

Our offers summarised for you:

  • System and storage tank tailored to your individual needs
  • Purchase offer - you are the owner and operator of the system
  • Alternative: 20-year lease with a constant monthly instalment - SWG owns the system, you are the operator
  • You can use the electricity for your own use
  • When feeding into the grid, you receive the feed-in tariff
  • Please note that you must commission services that are not directly part of the system (e.g. scaffolding, new meter cabinet, etc.) separately and on your own responsibility if required

As a reliable local partner, we work hand-in-hand with regional tradespeople and commission a certified partner company to ensure smooth project realisation. We attach particular importance to quality and only install modern, high-quality components with a long service life.

Charging your electric car with electricity from your own photovoltaic system (PV system) is a worthwhile endeavour. After all, a system with an output of 5 kWp can supply up to 5,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. If the consumption of your electric car is around 18 kWh/100 km, you will drive almost 2,500 km per month with zero emissions. Charging your electric car with PV electricity therefore not only benefits the environment, but also your wallet.

Due to falling feed-in tariffs and rising electricity costs, self-consumption of electricity from PV systems is becoming increasingly important. Instead of reselling your self-generated electricity at low prices, you should consume as much electricity as possible in your own household or store it in your own electricity storage system to charge your electric car at a later date. You can already save up to 18 cents for every kilowatt hour of self-generated electricity you consume, as you do not have to purchase this kilowatt hour at your electricity supplier's prices (26-30 ct/kWh).

You should bear this in mind when installing a PV system

To ensure professional installation and your safety, installation, assembly and maintenance work may only be carried out by a qualified service provider who is familiar with the standards and installation regulations and is fully responsible for the installation.

A corresponding application must be submitted to the grid operator for grid compatibility before the start of construction. This is usually done by your service provider. You must pay attention to the deadlines here.

The system can be registered with the Federal Network Agency two weeks before commissioning. This must be done by the system owner/operator themselves. You will not receive a feed-in tariff without registration!

Your service provider will be familiar with the regulations. Nevertheless, it is worth asking your local authority briefly.
