Our mission is you
We are Stadtwerke Gießen. Your reliable supplier of electricity, natural gas and district heating as well as drinking water. With our swimming pools, we offer you recreational fun and relaxation, while our local transport services keep you mobile. We always have your satisfaction in mind - and our responsibility for the region. Firmly rooted in Central Hesse, we are an employer, training organisation and client for the local economy. We have been driving forward the energy transition for many years, are constantly developing new solutions and do our part to ensure that our region remains worth living in: with a broad commitment to projects and associations in the fields of sport, social affairs and culture.
This is us.

Reliable energy supplier
Every day, we make sure that energy and water reach our customers reliably. We are a safe harbour for you even when things get rough on the energy exchanges.

Employer and training company
Respect, personal appreciation and open-mindedness characterise SWG as an employer. We currently employ around 800 people. We offer a wide range of job opportunities

Engine of the regional energy transition
The energy transition did not require any strategic reorientation on our part. On the contrary: we, Stadtwerke Gießen, have been heralding it for a long time - and are therefore also your contact for the energy transition at home.

Solution finder for energy issues
Energy efficiency, electromobility, smart technology: the topic of energy is becoming increasingly relevant. As a municipal utility, we have the right answers to the challenges of the future with our products and solutions. We are happy to support and advise you.
Committed to a Central Hessen worth living in
The opportunities for organising leisure activities are an important criterion for choosing a place to live these days. Giessen and the region have a lot to offer in this respect. We make our contribution to this every day. By getting involved in sport, culture and social issues. In this way, we help the various players to maintain and further expand their attractive offerings. In very different ways, but always following a central principle: we support clubs, organisations, projects and events in which as many people as possible can participate.

Energy for all: events with added value
We offer you exciting and informative events on the subject of energy. Take a look for yourself and book your favourite event.

ITEE - Interlocking theory and practice in the Central Hesse region
The Institut für Transformationsaufgaben in der Energiewirtschaft und Energietechnik e. V., or ITEE for short, was founded in 2023 on the initiative of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM). The association now includes 15 municipal utilities from the region - including Stadtwerke Gießen. SWG board member Matthias Funk is one of the chairmen.
Together with its association members, the ITEE provides students with in-depth insights into the world of utilities. The study of MINT subjects
subjects is thus enriched by training for the transformation tasks in energy supply companies (EVU). Heat and energy planning is realised in project work together with experts from the energy supply companies and the scientific management. We want to arouse students' interest in the tasks of energy suppliers and thus attract employees with a view to the future.
