If you would like to find out more about Stadtwerke Gießen and take a look behind the scenes of energy generation and water production, you can do so on a guided tour. We offer these tours free of charge for groups and schools within our supply area.

Overview of the guided tours

We offer guided tours of our premises in Lahnstraße for school classes from our supply area. We will introduce you to the following stations:

  • Training centre
  • local transport control centre and
  • central workshop.

Meeting point: Foyer of our main building in Lahnstraße

Suitability: School classes from year 5, adult groups

Duration: 2 hours

Number of participants: minimum 20 and maximum 35 people per appointment

Start of guided tours: Mondays to Thursdays from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

Thermal residue treatment and energy utilisation plants

Our TREA I and II (Thermal Residue Treatment and Energy Utilisation Plants) show how materials can be put to good use a second time. See for yourself. We offer guided tours of TREA I and II as part of our eco-tours. It is suitable for adult groups and school classes from our supply area.

Meeting point: Foyer of our main building at Lahnstraße 31 in Giessen. A bus transfer to and from TREA I and II is organised.

Biogas plants are currently being criticised. See for yourself why our biogas plant differs favourably from others and therefore makes ecological and economic sense. On a guided tour of our Buseck biogas plant, which we offer as part of our eco-tours for adult groups and school classes from our supply area.

Meeting point: Foyer of our main building at Lahnstraße 31 in Giessen. A bus transfer to and from the biogas plant is organised.

A guided tour of our Queckborn waterworks will give you an insight into the exciting world of drinking water production and treatment. We offer this tour for adult groups and school classes from our supply area.

Suitability: School classes from primary school upwards, adult groups

Duration: 2 hours (plus travelling time)

Number of participants: minimum 20 and maximum 35 people per date

Start of guided tours: Mondays to Thursdays from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

The guided tour gives you an insight into training at Stadtwerke Gießen. You will receive information about training and get to know the training centre.

Suitability: School classes from year 8 onwards

Duration: 2 hours

The guided tour gives you a theoretical and practical insight into training at Stadtwerke Gießen. Here you will receive information on all aspects of training and get to know the training centre through manual activities.

Important information

Booking is absolutely necessary. In order to realise your desired date, you should book approx. 6 weeks in advance!

Please make sure you wear weatherproof clothing and closed shoes, as some of the tours take place outdoors.
