How we ensure the highest water quality.
Nowhere is quality more essential than with water. At the same time, the quality of water, of all things, is often not recognisable. People therefore rely on our expertise and care. Our top priority is to fulfil the trust placed in us and the high demands placed on the security of supply.
Drinking water with a seal of approval
TSM stands for Technical Safety Management and for the certificate that accompanies the corresponding test. The abbreviation is well known at SWG: The electricity and natural gas divisions have already been certified according to this standard.
Now the drinking water division has also received confirmation that it fulfils the applicable standards.
Expansion of the operational management of drinking water networks as a service

Apart from the good feeling of having the quality of one's own performance confirmed by external experts, the certification also has a strategic background. SWG uses its expertise to offer the management of water networks as a service. Many local authorities have an increasing need in this area. After all, the requirements for water supply are also constantly increasing, which in times of financial bottlenecks and a shortage of skilled workers
can push small, municipal waterworks in particular to their limits.
SWG has already taken over the management of five external water networks in the region - and more may follow.
As a service provider, Stadtwerke Gießen is now responsible for managing, monitoring and maintaining the water network - which in most cases consists of many kilometres of water pipes and house connections.
Technology and communication brought up to date
In order for the processes to function smoothly, the programme usually includes the renewal of the measurement and control technology, including conversion to digital communication. The water supply in the network can then be monitored and controlled from the SWG network control centre.
