Drinking water analyses

The drinking water is sampled quarterly at different points in the network. A comprehensive sample is taken once a year, the current results of which can be viewed in the physico-chemical quality test report.

In agreement with the Giessen health authority, the water obtained from the Queckborn wells is not analysed for radioactive substances, as these were regularly well below the limit value when the samples were tested and are therefore not of concern.

Efficiency and loss figures

The water loss is calculated and assessed in accordance with DVGW Code of Practice W 392 E. In the case of SWG, the Infrastructure Leakage Index (ILI) is below 1 (0.53) in 2022. The water losses of Stadtwerke Gießen can therefore be categorised as low.

Risk management

Risk management is carried out in accordance with TrinkwV 2023 and documented using the TrimOnline application. In addition, Stadtwerke Gießen is TSM-certified (Technical Safety Management) in accordance with the requirements of the DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water).

Fees and prices

On 1 January 2011, the municipal company Mittelhessische Wasserbetriebe (MWB) took over the drinking water supply in Giessen from Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG).
