It is important that you provide us with your meter reading regularly so that we can bill your actual energy consumption correctly and avoid unpleasant surprises when you receive your annual bill.

How do I read my meter correctly?

Are you unsure whether you have read your meter correctly - whether for electricity or gas? Then you will find a few tips below on what you should bear in mind when reading your meter.

Electricity

What types of electricity meters are there?

Single-tariff meter:

The meter reading is the number on the electricity meter, which is usually written in white on a black counter. This indicates your energy consumption in kilowatt hours (kWh). The figures 1.8.0 on the meter display stand for household electricity.

Double tariff meter:

Do you use electricity during the day and at night? Then you have either installed two separate meters or a dual-tariff meter. With a dual-tariff meter, you will find two meter readings: one for daytime electricity (high tariff/HT) and one for night-time electricity (low tariff/NT). This means that you must note both meter readings and transmit them. The value of 1.8.1 for daytime electricity and the value of 1.8.2 for night-time electricity.

SmartMeter:

Do you have a new SmartMeter? Then it is no longer necessary for you to read your meter. SmartMeter automatically transmits your electricity consumption to us.

What is important when reading my electricity meter?

  1. Check the meter number: Make sure that the meter number on the device matches the one in your documents. Only then can you be sure that you are reading the correct meter.

  2. Note the reading: Read the figures before the decimal point. The decimal places (often marked in red) are not required.

Gas meter:

In contrast to the electricity meter, the gas meter indicates consumption in cubic metres (m3). However, the annual bill shows consumption in kilowatt hours.

What is important when reading my gas meter?

  1. Check the meter number: With the gas meter, make sure that the meter number on the device matches the one in your documents.

  2. Note the meter reading: Make a note of the black digits that indicate consumption. Red or other coloured numbers are decimal places and are not required for the notification.

Heat meter:

When reading your heat meter, please send us the value in Mwh (megawatt hour).
