Smart solutions

Our mission is to offer real benefits to as many people, companies and organisations as possible. This is precisely why we are working on various digital solutions to make your life easier. For example, we have been providing freely accessible Wi-Fi in Giessen for several years now. We are also expanding the necessary infrastructure for LoRaWAN - a transmission technology for many useful applications. We are using the opportunities offered by digitalisation to optimise our local transport services for you. As part of a federally funded research project, we are working on making all kinds of useful data - such as bus occupancy - available to you in real time. And in our new customer portal, you can do a lot of things conveniently online. Around the clock - with a single account.
LoRaWAN, what is that actually?
What is behind LoRaWAN? And how does it work? The technology is not really spectacular, but it is effective: data collected by sensors is sent to a server via so-called gateways - special antennas. The server processes the information and sends it to the various users. Either in the form of a simple message or visualised in an appealing and clear way for the PC screen or smartphone. Just as required.
LoRaWAN can be used practically whenever a condition can be detected electronically with a corresponding sensor. Are doors and windows closed? How warm is it in a room? How high is the petrol level in the tank? Or how many free parking spaces are there on the premises? The smart technology automatically keeps an eye on this and much more. And if necessary, it warns you if preset values are not being adhered to. For example, if a window is still open after a certain time. Or if the car park is full.
Measuring theCO2 content in indoor air is a particularly useful application in times of pandemic. This is because this value can be used to determine the viral load. And if you know this, you can ventilate in good time and reduce the risk of infection. We have already successfully usedCO2 monitoring in several schools in Giessen and in our own visitor rooms.
