Stadtwerke Giessen is once again supporting the popular summer football camp in Pohlheim-Garbenteich in 2013.

Playing in front of tens of thousands in the stadium and scoring the decisive goal in a big game - that's what young footballers dream of when they watch their idols on television. To make this dream come true, around 120 young footballers aged between 6 and 15 are once again honing their dribbling technique and goal-kicking skills at the 2013 summer football camp. As in previous years, Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) is once again supporting the Junior Football Academy Mittelhessen in organising the five-day training camp at the sports ground in Pohlheim-Garbenteich. "We are happy to have a partner who helps us to discover and promote young talent from the region," emphasises Karl-Otto Mank, initiator of the Junior Football Academy and DFB A-licence coach.

Training like the pros

This year, the summer football camp started on 5 August under the motto "Fair Play and Team Building" and ends on 9 August. In addition to Karl-Otto Mank, the girls and boys are supervised by other experienced coaches. The programme includes technical and coordination exercises for all young athletes. Aspiring goalkeepers also receive special, age-appropriate training. During the training sessions, the coaches repeatedly incorporate playful elements to ensure that fun is not neglected and that the girls and boys can put what they have learnt into practice straight away. "The great demand shows how well the summer football camp is received by the kids," emphasises Stephanie Orlik from Stadtwerke Giessen.
As the training takes place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the Junior Football Academy provides lunch and drinks.
