Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) has chosen the winners of the competition for this year's holiday games. The prizes were presented at the infoZentrum on Friday, 1 October. The first prize, a waterproof digital camera, goes to Valentina Süßkind from Heuchelheim. The runner-up, Ida Schauer from Fernwald, was delighted to receive an iPod nano. Nandini Polzer from Reiskirchen took third place and received a book voucher for 50 euros. They took part in SWG's holiday games and answered the quiz question about SWG's mascot correctly. The lucky fairy drew them out of 178 quiz participants as the lucky winners.
Every summer since 1995, Stadtwerke Gießen has organised holiday games at the Queckborn waterworks, which include a competition. "We want to introduce children to the responsible use of water in a fun way," says Michael Rösner, Head of Private and Commercial Customer Sales at Stadtwerke Gießen. Girls and boys between the ages of six and twelve can take part in the holiday games. This year, there were almost 400 participants from a total of twelve municipalities in Stadtwerke Giessen's supply area. Under the motto "Waterworks in Action", the focus was not just on facts and figures about water quality and the technology behind the tap. Rather, the focus was also on games, fun and lots of practical everyday knowledge: How much water does cleaning or showering use? And how many litres do we actually drink per day? The children didn't get the answers to these questions from a visitor counsellor, as is usually the case - but rather in silence: instead of display boards, this year a pantomime game provided entertaining information.
