One of the net systems on the tennis grounds of TV 05/07 Hüttenberg (TVH) in Berliner Straße is getting on in years. Every player realises this as soon as they step onto the court. "One of the posts is now so crooked that the net falls off to one side. This makes training under competitive conditions, medal matches or even tournaments impossible. Something needs to be done about this before the next outdoor season begins," emphasises Artur Weber, Chairman of the tennis department at TV Hüttenberg. A comprehensive renovation of the net system is unavoidable, but at the same time involves high costs and is a financial challenge for the TVH tennis department. "Despite our tight budget, we have decided to have the facility repaired from mid-March in order to maintain normal playing and training operations. And we are very happy to receive support for this," explains Artur Weber. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is helping the TVH tennis department financially with the purchase of a new net system. On Monday 25 February, Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at SWG, handed over a donation cheque for 500 euros to Artur Weber. "I live here in Hüttenberg and have been playing tennis at TVH myself for five years - currently in the men's 30 team. So I knew from my own experience that the playing conditions were no longer quite ideal," explains Ulli Boos. For this reason, he suggested supporting the tennis department as one of the "75 good deeds" with which SWG is supporting clubs, projects and organisations throughout the region in its anniversary year.
