The number one foodstuff is in the spotlight for a day on 22 March - people around the world celebrate the annual Day of Water. In 2017, Stadtwerke Giessen is once again inviting interested parties to take a look behind the scenes of drinking water treatment.
Drinking water travels a long way before it reaches the households of Giessen residents. One of the stops is the waterworks of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) in Queckborn. On World Water Day on 22 March, interested visitors can find out what is behind the treatment of this precious resource. SWG invites you to a guided tour followed by a visit to the central zone tank near Annerod. In Queckborn, guests will learn how the drinking water supply has developed over the decades.
"When you're in the shower, washing your hands or making tea, you don't always think about the effort required to ensure a safe supply of drinking water. We explain this during the free guided tours," explains Michael Rösner, Head of Sales for Private and Commercial Customers at Stadtwerke Gießen.
Register and take the bus to Queckborn
Participants in the guided tour will meet at 2 p.m. on 22 March at the Behördenzentrum bus stop in Giessen. From there, SWG will take all visitors to Queckborn on a free bus transfer. Stadtwerke Gießen will accept registrations until 15 March - by calling the service number 0800 2302100. Anyone interested should hurry. The number of places is limited.
World Water Day offers a special opportunity to take a look behind the scenes - but not the only one. Groups - especially schools and clubs - can arrange visits all year round. All information and a registration form can be found on the SWG website www.stadtwerke-giessen.de/wasser.
