Because the trade union ver.di has once again called a warning strike, city buses will run according to the Saturday timetable from Wednesday to Friday inclusive.
This is the third warning strike in six weeks in local transport. The trade union ver.di has called for a work stoppage from Wednesday to Friday inclusive. For Giessen, this means that bus drivers from Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) will also go on strike from the start of the shift on 13 March until the end of the late shift on 15 March. This will of course have an impact on bus operations. In order to minimise the impact on passengers, those responsible at SWG have decided to run the buses according to the Saturday timetable again during this period. Although this is associated with restrictions, it ensures relatively good planning. In addition, SWG will endeavour to offer the usual extra trips in the morning and at the end of school at lunchtime. Whether and how well this works depends on the available drivers. The buses in the surrounding area are not affected by the strike.
"We ask all passengers to apologise for any inconvenience," explains Anne Müller-Kreutz, Head of Local Transport Services at SWG, adding: "We will of course publish the valid Saturday timetable via the dynamic passenger information systems at the stops and transmit the information to RMV as quickly as possible for up-to-date electronic timetable information." SWG also keeps its passengers up to date on its website: www.swg-verkehr.de
All information on timetable changes is also available at the RMV mobility centre in Giessen on the market square, by telephone on 0641 708-1400 or online at www.swg-verkehr.de. Opening hours of the Giessen mobility centre in the SWG customer centre: Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 6 pm.
