SWG warn against fraudsters
Once again, suspected fraudsters are trying to pressure energy customers in Giessen into signing dubious electricity supply contracts.

Giessen. The attempts to take advantage of innocent citizens at their front door or over the phone continue. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is currently experiencing a massive increase in the number of reports from customers about their experiences. In fact, dodgy characters are currently travelling from door to door pretending to be SWG employees. Once in conversation, they ask their potential victims to give them access to their energy bills. The information obtained in this way enables them to conclude new energy contracts for the victims - even without their active involvement. The men are very aggressive and brazen in their approach.
Don't even start the conversation
"The best thing to do is not even enter into a conversation and simply close the door again," recommends Ulli Boos, company spokesperson for SWG. Under no circumstances should customers give out any data - neither about themselves nor about their current energy contracts or bills.
SWG is doing everything it can to protect people in the region from such attempts at fraud. This also includes informing the public if they become aware of it. The more people affected who support them, the better. "Every report of such a fraud attempt helps us to warn against the suspected fraudsters," explains Ulli Boos. SWG accepts reports of attempted fraud at the front door via various channels: by telephone on 0800 2302100, by email to info@stadtwerke-giessen.de, by WhatsApp to 0151 15213066 or in person at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz.
