Once again, a man is trying to conclude energy supply contracts using dubious methods.
Once again, a male person is trying to pressure unsuspecting citizens into signing an energy supply contract under false pretences. A case was reported to Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) in which a man gained access to a flat in order to conclude the dubious deal. The procedure this time: He pretends to be an energy consultant from SWG and leaves a business card. "This is definitely not an employee of SWG. Nor did SWG commission him," explains Julia Schnabel, deputy company spokesperson for SWG.
Do not sign contracts at the front door
In view of its experience with similar cases, SWG advises caution - especially if unknown persons turn up unannounced. "Don't let anyone into your home, don't give out any personal details and don't give out any meter numbers," recommends Julia Schnabel. SWG also does everything it can to warn people. "As soon as we become aware that dubious advisors are on the move again, they inform the public. That's why we are very grateful when those affected tell us about their experiences," Julia Schnabel continues. There are various ways to do this: by phone on 0800 2302100 (free of charge from all German networks), by email to info@stadtwerke-giessen.de, by WhatsApp to 0151 15213066 or in person at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz.
