A special kind of fitness session was on the agenda last Saturday for several players in the junior national basketball league at the Ringallee swimming centre. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) had invited the basketball juniors to an aqua bike training session. "In the active pool, strength and endurance can be improved in a very modern, joint-friendly way. It's ideal for us that the Stadtwerke here in Giessen offer the opportunity to do this," emphasised coach Filip Piljanovic, who is also chairman of the Gießen 46ers Juniors Basketball e.V. support association.
The players clearly enjoyed the change of pace and, together with their coach, were delighted to receive further support from Stadtwerke Gießen. Mathias Noyal, who works in financial accounting at SWG and coaches the company's basketball team, the SWG Dragons, presented Filip Piljanovic with a voucher for rehabilitation measures worth 500 euros after the training session on Saturday.
Mathias Noyal knows: "Abrupt changes of direction and movements are part and parcel of basketball. The sport thrives on this and even young players can get injured. We want to support the club in bringing these players back to the team."
