Since the beginning of March, there has been another way to get in touch with Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) and exchange information: WhatsApp. The popular messenger service is the ideal way to deal with or enquire about various matters conveniently from your smartphone. "WhatsApp is now part of everyday life for many people. So it was only logical for us to offer our customers this channel to get in touch with us," says Matthias Acker, Head of Customer Services at SWG, explaining the introduction.
WhatsApp can be used in a wide range of ways to communicate with SWG. The new channel is proving to be particularly practical for passing on meter readings. "Now all you have to do is take a photo of the meter with your mobile phone and send it to SWG via WhatsApp. It couldn't be easier," says Matthias Acker happily. The only requirement is that the meter number and the meter reading should be clearly recognisable in the picture. If this is guaranteed, SWG will take care of everything else.
Of course, SWG will also answer any number of general questions asked via WhatsApp. For example, when exactly the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz opens its doors or how much admission costs for a family visit to the Ringallee swimming centre. The decisive advantage over a phone call is that the answer remains available until the customer decides to delete the chat. Taking notes is therefore a thing of the past.
It goes without saying that SWG's service fulfils all data protection requirements down to the last detail. This is why SWG takes particular care when it comes to individual information, such as questions about the bill or a request to adjust the instalments. "In these cases, we ask that you continue to communicate with us by email or telephone," explains Matthias Acker. In other words, whenever SWG needs a customer number in order to process the matter further, the company will continue to use the tried-and-tested communication channels.
To get in touch with SWG via WhatsApp, simply add the number 01579 2467933 to the contacts saved on your smartphone. In the chat list, conversations with SWG can be recognised by the typical logo.
