Stadtwerke Gießen is breaking new ground when it comes to energy advice. At presentations and events in the municipalities in the supply area, citizens have the opportunity to find out about energy saving and energy efficiency and receive valuable tips.

Energy companies have changed considerably over the past few decades - from pure energy suppliers to energy service providers. Advice for citizens, for example, is becoming increasingly relevant. People from Giessen and the region have always been able to turn to the experts at Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) in the customer centre on the market square with their questions. Among other things, they can find out how to significantly reduce electricity and natural gas consumption in their own four walls. "For us, the service concept takes centre stage. This includes being close to people and offering them comprehensive personal advice on site," emphasises Michael Rösner, Head of Sales for Private and Commercial Customers at SWG.

Presentations offered in the municipalities
Stadtwerke Gießen is breaking new ground in order to be even closer to the people and strengthen direct dialogue throughout the region. Towns and municipalities as well as associations and institutions in the supply area have the opportunity to bring an energy consultant to their community for a one-hour presentation followed by a Q&A session. The experts will give on-site presentations on topics such as saving energy in the home, modern lighting and efficient heating solutions.

Giving clear practical examples
At the beginning of November, the town of Pohlheim invited SWG energy consultant Astrid Weixler to the town hall. The municipal utilities employee showed interested parties in the conference room numerous ways to save energy in their own four walls. She also explained the energy label for washing machines, fridges etc., how everyone can check the power consumption of their household appliances and what the term "Giessen green electricity" means. "It is important to give citizens clear examples of how they can reduce their consumption with little effort in some cases - thereby relieving the strain on their wallets and protecting the climate at the same time," explains Michael Rösner.
