The JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers are also cooperating with Stadtwerke Gießen in the coming season.

Giessen. The JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers are and will remain the figurehead of the regional basketball scene. Even the unfortunate relegation from the highest German league does not change that. "We've put last season behind us and are now only looking ahead," explains Sebastian Schmidt, Managing Director and Sports Director of Jobstairs Giessen 46ers. The goal has also been clearly formulated: to first establish themselves in the Barmer 2nd Basketball Bundesliga ProA and move up again in the medium term. With the support of Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG). Those responsible have decided to continue the long-standing partnership in the upcoming season and even for another two years.

Like all professional teams that attract their fans to halls and stadiums every week, the 46ers also need reliable partners. "Nothing works without sponsors. Attractive sport at this level cannot be financed solely from the entrance fees and the proceeds from merchandising," summarises Jonathan Kollmar, Head of Sales & Events at the 46ers. He adds: "That's why we're delighted that SWG is once again supporting us as a top partner."

Achieving something together

SWG and the 46ers have been working together for almost 20 years. "Especially when things aren't going so well, you need someone you can rely on. That's why there's no question for us that we'll also support the 46ers in the second division," says Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing & Communications at SWG, explaining the decision to support the Giessen basketball team in the second division as well. A very important part of the deal: SWG mascot Fabius will continue to appear as the 46ers' mascot. With his funny interludes and tricks, the likeable dragon ensures a good mood during the breaks and time-outs and encourages the fans to become the famous sixth man. And to cheer on the squad led by head coach Branislav Ignjatovic as usual in the upcoming 17 home games in the Osthalle.

"We're doing everything we can to thrill our fans, play good basketball and have a successful season," promises Sebastian Schmidt. The 46ers will make the Osthalle shake for the first time in the coming season against the Artland Dragons from Quakenbrück on 9 October. However, there is already a good week before that: The team will face Eisbären Bremerhaven on 1 October. "Of course it's a shame that we won't be able to watch first division basketball this year. But I'm sure we'll still be able to enjoy plenty of thrilling home games and great sport overall," says a delighted Ulli Boos.
