The popular summer football camp organised by Stadtwerke Gießen is entering its 10th round in 2014. As usual, Stadtwerke Giessen is supporting the training camp of the Junior Football Academy Mittelhessen as a sponsor.
Since Monday, 18 August, young footballers have once again been training dribbling and goal kicks at the summer football camp on the sports grounds in Pohlheim-Garbenteich. This time, the 60 girls and boys aged between 6 and 15 are particularly motivated. After all, their idols have won the World Cup in Brazil - the first title for the DFB team that the football-loving youngsters have been able to experience. As a result, they really put their backs into it. And Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) is supporting them: as in previous years, the municipal utility company is sponsoring the five-day training camp organised by the Junior Football Academy of Central Hesse.
Train like Schweini, Poldi & Co.
During the five training days, Karl-Otto Mank and Thorsten Buß supervise the football kids together with other licensed coaches from the Central Hesse Junior Football Academy. The coaching team primarily teaches individual techniques such as ball handling, goal kicking and passing. The programme therefore includes age-appropriate technical and coordination exercises for the young footballers. Goalkeepers are of course given a special training plan. To keep the fun factor high, there are always playful interludes in the training programme. This allows the girls and boys to put what they have learnt into practice, try it out and consolidate it.
The children spend a full five hours a day - from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - honing their skills. That's why the professionals of tomorrow are catered for at the summer football camp: There is a communal lunch during the break. Drinks are of course provided by the Junior Football Academy during the entire training session.
The organisers of the Junior Football Academy and SWG are delighted with the 2014 summer football camp. "The demand for the football camp was huge again this year," says Stephanie Orlik, who is responsible for sponsorship activities at SWG. "This shows us how well the training camp is received by the kids."
