Future starting block: Jobs and training at Giessen's swimming pools

The Giessen swimming pools are inviting interested parties to the Ringallee bathing centre on 20 March under the motto "Startblock Zukunft" (starting block future).

What does it actually take for everything to run smoothly in a swimming pool? And why is the work here not only exciting, but also really demanding? Interested parties will get detailed answers to these and other questions on 20 March at the "Startblock Zukunft: Jobs and training in Giessen's swimming pools" event. In the foyer of the Ringallee pool centre from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., interested parties will have the opportunity to find out all about apprenticeships and current vacancies. And to make personal contact with the local contact persons.

Training with depth
With "Startblock Zukunft", Giessen's swimming pools are primarily aimed at school pupils who are considering which career direction they would like to take. After all, the programme is an offer of guidance. And a chance to find out more about the exciting profession of pool attendant (m/f/d). "This apprenticeship is often underestimated," says Sonja Krausmüller, pool attendant at the Giessen pools, adding: "But it's much more varied than it seems at first glance."

The day-to-day tasks go far beyond traditional pool supervision. In fact, a large proportion of the work is of a technical nature. This includes monitoring pumps, filters or pool systems, taking water samples and checking and documenting the pH value, chlorine content and other pool water parameters. But minor maintenance and repairs are also part of the job. And during the day-to-day operation of the pools, you are the point of contact for bathers. So if you are enthusiastic about technology, like to keep an eye on everything and enjoy contact with people, you would be well advised to enquire about an apprenticeship at the Giessen pools.

Direct entry possible
Of course, there are also offers for career starters and experienced applicants. "We are always on the lookout for experienced pool attendants and welcome all applications," emphasises Sonja Krausmüller. Other vacancies are also open for applications: the Giessen pools are looking for water supervisors and masseurs.

Regardless of the entry level - whether job seekers or students - it's definitely worth stopping by the Ringallee pool centre on 20 March between 11 am and 5 pm. Further information is available at: www.stadtwerke-giessen.de/karriere
