SWG extends partnership with TSV Klein-Linden

Stadtwerke Gießen is supporting the football inclusion team of TSV 1889 Gießen-Klein-Linden e.V. for another three years.
A strong signal for active inclusion and more participation: Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will continue to work closely with TSV Klein-Linden in the future. Specifically, SWG and the traditional club's inclusion team have underpinned their already very successful partnership and extended the cooperation for a further three years. "As a municipal company, we take responsibility for our region. It is a matter close to our hearts to continue to accompany and support TSV Klein-Linden's inclusive sports programme as a reliable partner," says Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing & Communications at SWG, explaining the reasons for the commitment.
The football ID team at TSV Klein-Linden has been in existence for ten years and SWG has been involved from the very beginning. "Football for people with intellectual disabilities is known as ID football, where the 'ID' stands for 'intellectual deficit'," explains Ruben Ebenig, Head of Inclusive Sports and coach of the ID team at TSV Klein-Linden. People with and without disabilities from very different social groups come together here - united by their shared passion: playing football.
A decade of ID football
To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the football ID team organised the inclusive Hesse Cup of the Hessian Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (HBRS) at the beginning of July. The team has been playing successfully in the HBRS Hesse League for years.
Ten teams competed against each other on the sports grounds of TSV Klein-Linden. As last year's winners, TSV entered the race with great ambitions and two teams. With an excellent third place for the first team and a solid sixth place for the second, the competition was also a complete sporting success. "In ID football, the focus is not on performance, but on fun and participation for everyone," emphasises Ruben Ebenig and continues: "The fact that Stadtwerke Gießen is continuing on this path with us motivates us all enormously and is a great recognition of our work."
Inclusive sport brings people with and without disabilities together as equals. It promotes mutual respect, boosts self-confidence and strengthens the community. "ID football shows that diversity is not an obstacle, but an enrichment. An image of humanity that also applies to us at SWG. The fact that we share the same values in this respect underlines our good partnership," summarises Ulli Boos.
