As part of its 75 good deeds, Stadtwerke donated money to SV 1945 Annerod, which the club used to buy materials to renovate the changing rooms.

The old clubhouse of SV 1945 Annerod has had its best days: Mirko Heberlein was not the only one to think so. He has been head of the club's football department for eight years and still occasionally takes to the pitch himself, as he reveals: "In addition to my job, I'm still active in the sport and play with great passion in the second men's team." He has often wished the changing rooms in the clubhouse were in better condition. But SV Annerod didn't have the money to renovate them - especially for the materials. Mirko Heberlein, who works in the information technology department at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), therefore suggested supporting the renovation of the changing rooms with a donation as part of the 75 good deeds.
Thomas Fuchs, 1st Chairman of SV Annerod, explains: "The renovation had been planned for some time. And if we go ahead with it, then it should last for many years - which of course has an impact on the costs." He and the other club members were therefore all the more pleased about the donation from SWG for the necessary materials. Many of them helped to tear out the 30 to 40-year-old floor and doors themselves.

Old becomes new

Once the preparations for the renovation work had been made, local companies - some of them sponsors of the association - took on the actual work. First, they laid a new, anthracite-coloured plastic floor. "It has to be a robust floor covering - after all, the players walk over it with their cleats," explains Mirko Heberlein. The craftsmen then installed three new doors made of beech wood, replastered the walls and gave them a light grey coat of paint.
When handing over the cheque, Thomas Fuchs was certain: "Our players will certainly enjoy preparing for matches and celebrating victories in the new rooms and the cosier atmosphere."
