How can I reduce electricity consumption in my household, how should I interpret the information on the energy label for household appliances and how much can I save with modern appliances? These and other questions will be answered by Stadtwerke Gießen in a presentation on 30 June at 6 pm in the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz.

The experts agree: if the energy transition is to succeed, electricity consumption must be significantly reduced. This can often be achieved with simple means. SWG energy expert Astrid Weixler will discuss what these are on 30 June at 6 p.m. in the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz. "As a regional energy service provider, we want to show people who live here how they can make their contribution to climate protection and save money in the long term," explains Astrid Weixler.
In her presentation, the specialist covers all the important aspects of the topic: Based on the consumption of an average household, she calculates which savings potentials usually remain unutilised. She then explains what is behind the information on the energy label and how it should be evaluated. Last but not least, Astrid Weixler provides useful tips on the efficient use of refrigerators and freezers, for cooking and baking as well as for washing and dishwashing. For the sake of completeness, she also deals with the topic of lighting - but only to a limited extent. The SWG have put together a separate presentation on this topic, which is planned for December. Astrid Weixler will repeat her presentation "Saving electricity in the home" in Lahnau in October. In both cases, SWG will announce the exact dates in good time.
All those who are unable to attend the lecture will of course also have the opportunity to find out more. After all, the team of energy consultants will be happy to pass on their extensive knowledge on the subject during the opening hours of the SWG customer centre. The municipal utilities also lend electricity meters to their customers free of charge. These clever helpers determine the power consumption of individual electrical appliances. This makes it very easy to track down any power wasters. And knowing where and how much energy is being lost is the basis for sensible planning of new purchases.
SWG customer centre opening hours: Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
