How can I reduce my energy consumption, what do the energy labels on household appliances mean and what savings can I make with modern light sources? Stadtwerke Gießen answered all these questions at a presentation in the Homberg (Ohm) Family Centre.
Many studies indicate that the topics of energy efficiency and energy saving are important factors for the success of the energy transition in Germany. It is often possible to reduce electricity and heat consumption by simple means - which is good for the climate and the household budget. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has always provided information about the options available to each individual at home at the customer centre on the market square - and increasingly also in the form of public events in the municipalities and at institutions in the region. Take Homberg (Ohm), for example: At a presentation in the family centre on 26 November, citizens had the opportunity to pick up valuable tips for everyday life and ask questions.
SWG energy consultant Astrid Weixler spoke about the energy label for washing machines, fridges and other appliances, explained how everyone can check the electricity consumption of their household appliances themselves and what is behind the term "Giessener Grünstrom" (Giessen green electricity). "We use examples to show what you can do at home to save energy. Most people are amazed at what they can achieve with just a little effort," explains Astrid Weixler, adding: "Above all, all those who have limited mobility or have a long way to travel to the customer centre in Giessen are delighted with our offer. As an energy service provider, we naturally also want to show these people from the region what savings potential is hidden in their household."
In addition to such events in the municipalities, SWG also regularly offers special presentations at the customer centre on the market square in Giessen - in addition to the daily consultation. The next opportunity to obtain comprehensive information and put questions to the SWG experts will be on 15 December from 6 pm. The topic will be "The right heating system for your building". Anyone wishing to register for this event can reserve a place now by calling the free service number 0800 2302100.
