The Central Hesse region now offers many teams that inspire with attractive sport at the highest level. One of these is the first team from RSV Lahn-Dill. The wheelchair basketball team based in Wetzlar holds all national records with 13 German championships and 14 cup wins - the last of which came this year. On top of this, they have also enjoyed plenty of success on the international stage, winning the European Cup seven times, the World Cup and several more.
Such success over such a long period of time requires highly professional structures. RSV Lahn-Dill has had such structures for many years - thanks in part to the commitment of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), which has been a sponsor of the Wetzlar basketball team since 2005. "Right from the start, the club impressed us with its professionalism," recalls Ina Weller, Head of Marketing and Sales at SWG. So it is hardly surprising that the two long-standing partners have extended their partnership for a further three years. On 10 September, Ina Weller, Stephanie Orlik, responsible for sponsorship at SWG, and Andreas Joneck, Managing Director of RSV Sportvermarktungs GmbH, signed a contract to this effect.
The special thing about it is that SWG will not only act as a premium sponsor for the first time in the 2018/2019 season, but also as an official energy partner. "We are very pleased that Stadtwerke Gießen has decided to continue supporting us," says Andreas Joneck. "We are particularly pleased that SWG have even expanded their activities."
We can only hope that RSV Lahn-Dill will continue to be as successful in the future - whether in national or international competitions. The course has certainly been set. As always, the team boasts a top line-up in all positions and the coaching and support staff have been preparing meticulously for the coming season for weeks. It is therefore well worth popping into Wetzlar right at the start of the new season when the wheelchair basketball team plays one of its home games in the Bundesliga. The fact is: When it comes to action and excitement, the basketball players in wheelchairs are in no way inferior to their running colleagues. And if everything goes as planned, the Wetzlar team will once again have plenty of home wins next season.
