It won't be long before the World Cup kicks off - this time in South Africa, around twelve hours away by plane. It's probably closer than the World Cup stadium in Cape Town to arrange to meet up with friends to watch the football. Whether it's a public viewing in front of the big screen or at a friend's house - you definitely have to go. The Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) offers particularly favourable World Cup day tickets for football fans who are travelling further afield and who want to do without their car for the sake of the party. These are freely transferable and valid on all match days of the German team in the entire RMV network area. This means: pay just 20.10 euros once and then travel by bus and train on all of the national team's match days at the 2010 World Cup. The matches in the preliminary round on 13, 18 and 23 June have already been confirmed, and there are also hopes of a place in the final. In comparison, a corresponding day ticket costs 26.70 euros.
An important note: The tickets are available in Giessen exclusively at the mobility centre on the market square from 17 May to 13 June inclusive. So if you want to travel cheaply on public transport on the match days, you should secure your World Cup day ticket in good time before the first match. Ticket holders also have the chance to win a watch from the Frankfurt luxury brand "SINN" worth around 2,000 euros.
Further information is available at the mobility centre in the SWG infoCentre on the market square in Giessen. Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. Information by telephone on 0641 708-1400.
