The sauna season at the Ringallee bathing centre begins on 3 October. Visitors can look forward to many attractive new features.

Due to the impending gas shortage, the Giessen pools had to close the wellness area in the Ringallee bathing centre in July 2022. This crisis-related sauna-free period was interrupted for around three months with two opening days per week. This is because extensive modernisation work was planned for the summer holidays. These have now been completed as planned. From 3 October, the three heaters will be back up to temperature. "We are looking forward to the restart and hope to be able to spoil many visitors to our facility again," explains Uwe Volbrecht. The head of the Giessen pools chose the word "restart" very deliberately at this point. He and his team have used the past eight weeks to carry out a number of modernisations. The most obvious of these is the completely new Finnish sauna. The panorama sauna has been given new benches and all the heaters have been completely overhauled.

Breaking new ground

However, modern sweat baths are not the only innovation with which the Giessen baths are starting the coming sauna season. "We have also thought about the concept," adds Uwe Volbrecht and specifies: "Basically, everything will revolve around fragrances and their positive effect on the human organism in future." To create these, the Giessen spas rely exclusively on high-quality essential oils and real herbs.

These ingredients are not only used as usual for the regular infusions, but also throughout the entire wellness area. From the changing rooms to the relaxation rooms - pleasant fragrances will permeate the air everywhere in future. In order to offer variety, the themes of trees, flowers and herbs will run in a three-week rhythm.

Keyword variety. In future, this will also be emphasised in the regular infusions. "With Jan Norwig, we have been able to recruit a proven expert for our team," explains Uwe Volbrecht. The trained sauna master came 6th in the German Infusion Championships 2023 at the Havel-Therme and has contributed his experience and expertise to the new concept. "Our aim is to provide our visitors with moments of relaxation with experiential value," summarises Uwe Volbrecht.

Customised upgrades for little money

Completely new at the Ringallee bathing centre are the special treatments that sauna guests can book on request. For example, a ceremony in the steam bath, a deep heat treatment with herbal bags in the sanarium or hot birch branches in the sauna or, last but not least, a personalised peeling. "I am convinced that these optional offers will help many guests to relax even better and take a little holiday from everyday life," adds Uwe Volbrecht. Of course, it is still possible to make an appointment for a professional massage in advance of your visit and to be treated by an experienced specialist between two sauna sessions. Catering is also still available. As in the past, the Giessen baths serve healthy, light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks in the attractively furnished bistro.

Initially four days a week

The wellness area in the Ringallee bathing centre will initially be open four days a week. On Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., only ladies can enjoy the sauna. Mixed sauna fun is available on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 to 9 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm. "We are convinced that our guests will accept our new concept and come to the sauna in large numbers again. That's why we are monitoring developments and adapting the offer to demand," promises Uwe Volbrecht.

Important to know: The first opening day falls on 3 October. The Sunday rule therefore applies - mixed sauna from 10 am to 5 pm.
