Drinking water is the number one foodstuff and therefore an extremely precious commodity. On World Water Day - 22 March - the United Nations reminds us of this every year. To mark this special occasion, Stadtwerke Gießen is once again offering a special guided tour of the Queckborn waterworks in 2018 - the day before, on Wednesday, 21 March.

In tests, drinking water in Germany repeatedly achieves excellent results. In terms of quality, it clearly outperforms most bottled water. However, only very few people know how the number one foodstuff reaches our households and what route each drop of water takes. One of the most important intermediate stations from the source to your own four walls: the waterworks of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) in Queckborn. On the afternoon of 21 March, interested visitors can find out more about drinking water, the technology behind it and the history of water supply.
The programme includes a guided tour of the plant in Queckborn and a visit to the central zone tank in Annerod.

Bus service from Giessen to Queckborn
