26 young and dedicated artists, lots of paint, brushes and creativity - and grey boxes become real eye-catchers. The pupils of Landgraf-Ludwig-Schule (LLS) gave eleven cable distribution boxes of Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) a new coat of paint.
Together with their teacher, Dr Michael Botor, the pupils presented a small selection of the works of art to representatives of the district advisory council of Giessen Nordstadt yesterday.
Dr Eckart Voigts-Virchow, representative of the Giessen Nordstadt District Advisory Council and the initiator of the project, was delighted with the commitment of the young people and the creative results of this painting campaign. The aim of the painting campaign was to make an active contribution to the beautification of Giessen's Nordstadt district.
The creative distribution boxes are proof of the successful campaign.
Dr Michael Botor, art teacher at Landgraf-Ludwig-Schule, put the idea of colourfully enhancing the residential area into practice. Together with Jutta Ubrigkeit-Kaiser's class 9c, Dr Botor created the new motifs for the junction boxes.
The pupils' artistic endeavours have paid off.
After all, the atmosphere of residential areas is not only characterised by houses or trees, but also by many small things such as distribution boxes.
And the campaign continues. Over the next few weeks, the Käthe Kollwitz School will be giving some more distribution boxes a new coat of paint.
Stadtwerke supported the project of the two Giessen schools with brushes and paints. The new boxes will be installed in Nordstadt over the next few weeks.
