Expert Holger Lorenz spoke about the causes of possible mould infestation and the enerGIeßen service package "Moisture and mould check" at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz.
It likes to spread unnoticed behind cupboards or in the niche under the windowsill: Mould. This is not only annoying but, depending on the extent of the infestation, also a danger - both to health and to the fabric of the building. It is therefore important to find the cause as quickly as possible and eliminate it permanently. The independent expert Holger Lorenz from Buseck explained how this can be achieved in the "Moisture and mould check" lecture, to which Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) invited guests to the SWG customer centre on the market square at the end of August.
Finding the causes
Mould usually forms when the humidity in rooms is permanently too high and condenses on walls, ceilings or floors. This can be triggered by construction defects or the behaviour of the occupants. To determine the actual cause, Holger Lorenz recommended SWG's "Moisture and Mould Check". This service from the enerGIeßen package involves experts analysing the situation on site and measuring the temperature and humidity. With this various information, specialists such as Holger Lorenz can identify potential weak points in the building fabric. They also help to prevent mould from developing in the first place.
Of course, the specialists also take a very close look at surfaces that are already infested. This is the prerequisite for classifying the mould and correctly assessing the risk it poses. A final report on the results of the inspection, which is comprehensible to the layman, helps to initiate further steps.
Anyone can use the enerGIeßen service. SWG energy customers pay an attractive special price.
Make a note now: Further lecture dates in autumn and winter
In just a few weeks, SWG will be hosting another exciting information event at the customer centre on Marktplatz. On 30 October 2019, the topic will be "Correct heating and ventilation", in keeping with the season. On 29 January 2020, the programme will then include a presentation on "Saving electricity in the home". In all likelihood, SWG will include the topic "Moisture and mould check" in the lecture programme again next year due to the great response.
Anyone interested is cordially invited to register for the lecture of their choice at the energy advice centre in the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz or at energieberatung@stadtwerke-giessen.de .
