The ski season has begun. Prepared pistes and deep snow are once again attracting winter holidaymakers to the mountain slopes, including many members of the Busecker Tal ski club. The athletes regularly travel to the mountains together, for example to the "Opening" in Austria's Stubai Valley in November. In addition to these tours, the club also offers ski enthusiasts the opportunity to do sport without boards under their feet - in the Willy-Czech-Halle in Buseck-Beuern. Around 20 members meet there once a week for ski gymnastics. "Every skier should continuously train their muscles and joints. Otherwise, the risk of injury increases," warns Tobias Fleißner, first chairman of the Busecker Tal ski club. Ski gymnastics teaches you the right exercises and keeps you physically fit.
Claudia Grünbein from the Marketing & Sales department at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has also been attending the course for many years to keep fit. She knows: "The training is good for the legs, back, stomach and upper body and improves mobility and balance."

Fit for the snow
Every week, floor exercises are also on the programme for the gymnastics course. A suitable sports mat is part of the basic equipment. Until recently, the club members had to use worn-out mats in the Willy Czech Hall. As the purchase of new mats would have been beyond the financial means of the ski club, Claudia Grünbein came up with the idea of supporting the ski club with one of the 75 good deeds in the anniversary year of Stadtwerke Giessen. On Monday 18 November, she presented Tobias Fleißner with the symbolic donation cheque. In addition to the sports equipment, SWG also sponsored 20 T-shirts labelled "Fit for Snow".
"'Fit for the snow' is the perfect motto for ski gymnastics," emphasised Claudia Grünbein, who is already looking forward to her next trip to the Dolomites with the ski club. The first chairperson Tobias Fleißner thanked the SWG sponsor and Stadtwerke Gießen for the generous donation.
