"Play your game" - City Day on 29 June

On Sunday, 29 June, sports clubs from the region will present their offerings at the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day at the Ringallee outdoor pool.

Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) invites you to "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day at the Ringallee outdoor pool on Sunday, 29 June from 11 am to 6 pm. The seventh edition of the day of action is all about sport and fun for young and old alike. The idea behind it: Clubs from the region present their programmes. This year's programme ranges from familiar sports such as handball and basketball to the still relatively unknown floorball. And visitors - especially children and young people - have the opportunity to try them out without any obligation. Admission to "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day is free. The outdoor pool will of course be open as normal.

Holistic approach

City Day has been an integral part of the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" campaign from the very beginning. SWG is pursuing a clearly defined goal with this campaign: to get children and young people interested in sport and exercise. "Through our campaign, we support clubs, schools and other organisations in the region that are committed to children's and youth sport," says SWG company spokesperson Ulli Boos, describing the concept. This is done through donations of money and goods - or as part of the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day. With this day of action, SWG is creating a unique platform for clubs from Giessen and the surrounding area to present their programmes to a wide audience.

From football to rock 'n' roll

As various clubs have once again announced their participation in the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day in June 2025, it is advisable to get an overview right at the start at the SWG meeting point. Clubs have already confirmed that they will be presenting handball, basketball, football, floorball - a form of hockey - rock 'n' roll and darts at various stations. SWG maintains an up-to-date list of all the clubs taking part in City Day and the corresponding sports at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de/city-day-2025. Of course, the Giessen swimming pools will also be active: they will be presenting Aqua-Zumba. So it's worth bringing your swimming costume or swimming trunks.

As in previous years, Michael Rogalla, alias clown Ichmael, will once again be making a stop at "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day. In his mobile circus barn, he introduces children to the art of balancing and juggling. He also breathes life into the SWG mascot Fabius: In the costume of the funny dragon, he is always out and about on the grounds, performing one trick or another.
