After a two-year break, the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day can take place again this year at the Ringallee outdoor pool. With activities and stands from many Giessen clubs.

On Sunday, 17 July, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is once again inviting visitors to "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day at the Ringallee outdoor pool after a two-year break due to the coronavirus. The day of action starts at 11 am and offers sport and fun for young and old until 6 pm. Numerous clubs will be demonstrating some unusual and some familiar sports and giving visitors the opportunity to try them out without obligation. Admission is free.

The City Day is an integral part of the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" campaign - launched and organised by SWG. The idea behind it: To get children and young people interested in sport and exercise. "With our campaign, we support clubs, schools and other organisations in the region that are committed to children's and youth sport," explains SWG company spokesperson Ulli Boos. This is done on the one hand with donations of money and goods, but also with the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day itself. With this day of action, SWG is creating a platform on which clubs from Giessen and the surrounding area can present their programmes to a broad public.

Discover the extraordinary

Various clubs have confirmed their participation in City Day in July 2022 - including MTV 1846 Giessen. At their stand, interested parties can get a taste of two popular sports: floorball and cheerleading. The former is a kind of hockey with a light plastic ball with holes in it. The latter is a mixture of dance, acrobatics and gymnastics and was originally used in US team sports to cheer on one's own team. TSG Blau-Gold Gießen also attracts visitors with an exotic sport: pole dancing. This trend sport is a challenging combination of dance and acrobatics. The dancers either twirl around their sports equipment - a vertical pole - or perform strength-sapping exercises that often seem to defy gravity.

Michael Rogalla, alias clown Ichmael, will also be back with his circus barn. Here, young people can make their first attempts at balancing and juggling. The Giessen swimming pools will be showing what Aqua-Zumba is all about and offering the right equipment for sale in the Giessen swimming pool shop. Anyone wanting to test their marksmanship can stop by the JobStairs Giessen 46ers stand or the DC Cartoon Giessen. The basketball players have set up their double-shot system, while DC Cartoon Giessen has several dart boards.

The SWG wheel of fortune completes the action-packed family day. And in the middle of it all, visitors are sure to run into the SWG mascot Fabius. The funny dragon will of course also be performing a trick or two. So it's worth keeping an eye on him.
