The teachers at the Protestant kindergarten "Die Arche" in Lich-Langsdorf are delighted. "We are finally able to replace the old gym mats under the climbing frame with new ones. Now the little ones can romp around again without any restrictions," said a delighted Sabine Bothe, head of the centre. On 7 March, Dennis Humme from the Marketing and Sales department at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) presented her with a donation cheque for the purchase of four gym mats.
One of "75 good deeds" with which SWG is supporting clubs, organisations, projects and institutions throughout the region during its anniversary year.
The company is helping the "Arche" to implement its educational concept: in order to optimally promote body awareness, the boys and girls should be able to take part in sufficient sporting activities. The kindergarten attaches particular importance to this. "Children need to be able to let off steam," emphasised SWG employee Dennis Humme when handing over the cheque. His daughter also attends the "Arche" kindergarten and so he is pleased with the wide range of opportunities that the kindergarten offers - both indoors and outdoors. The mobile climbing frame in a room that has been converted into a so-called movement construction site is particularly popular with the little ones. Climbing up, dangling, jumping off, rolling down - thanks to the new gym mats, a soft, safe landing is guaranteed.
