On 1 December 2015, the natural gas filling station at Marburger Straße 229 in Giessen will close and remain out of service from that day onwards. However, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is offering drivers of natural gas cars an alternative. Ina Weller, company spokesperson for SWG, explains: "Anyone who wants to refuel their car can now use our natural gas pump on the company premises at Lahnstraße 31 - all week long, 24 hours a day."
Anyone wishing to take advantage of this offer should please note: There could be waiting times between 6 pm and midnight. During this time, SWG refuels the city buses.
Ina Weller also points out: "Drivers can only access the site via the main entrance in Lahnstraße, where they have to register with the gatekeeper. We have signposted the way to the petrol pump. You should have your EC card with you, as customers need this in conjunction with their PIN number to pay." SWG customers who take part in the natural gas subsidy programme and fill up at half price for the first year will also receive a chip card with which they can register at the electronic terminal at the pump.
