Visitors to the State Garden Show will experience the next highlight on the Stadtwerke Gießen stage on Thursday, 10 July. The Big Band of the German Armed Forces will be playing swing, summer hits and pop classics. A concert at which the musicians in uniform will be encouraging donations for the Tour of Hope.
Hundreds of amateur athletes and celebrities pedal every year to collect donations for the Tour of Hope. They will start again on 6 August 2014. "A large proportion of the donations will be collected during the tour and at charity events such as next week's Landesgartenschau (LGS)," explains Gerhard Becker, Head of Organisation for the Tour of Hope.
On Thursday 10 July, the Big Band of the German Armed Forces will present a mixture of swing, summer hits and pop classics on the LGS grounds in Giessen. The concert by the 26 professional musicians and career soldiers on the Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) Landesgartenschaubühne stage is all about the Tour of Hope. "We are delighted that these top-class musicians have been supporting us in the fight against cancer for around ten years," emphasises Volker Klein, sporting director of the charity tour.
SWG supports the tour as a partner
One of the long-standing partners of the Tour of Hope is Stadtwerke Giessen, which will be collecting donations for the Tour of Hope from Thursday morning. SWG company spokesperson Ina Weller points out: "Anyone who wants to get involved has the whole day to do so. We are calling on all visitors to the State Garden Show to come by our stand near the stage." From 10 a.m., Stadtwerke Gießen will be selling raffle tickets in aid of the charity tour. They will be supported by celebrities such as former world-class biathlete Petra Behle - now patron of the Tour of Hope.
