Old leaves from last autumn that clog gutters and make rainwater run off slowly are a nuisance for every homeowner. Cleaning is unavoidable. However, an ordinary ladder is often not enough to remove the annoying deposits - as in the case of the Musik- und Kunstverein Gießen (MuK): the gutter and filter of the downpipes are located at a great height. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) therefore provided the association with a pallet truck from its fleet and the driver last Wednesday - number 14 of 75 good deeds in SWG's anniversary year.
"I'm a member of MuK and some time ago we started thinking about what work needed to be done this year. Cleaning the gutters was one of them," explains Andreas Weisbrod from the Information Technologies department at SWG. He suggested that his employer support the music and art association with the necessary equipment - the pallet truck: "I didn't think twice about collecting the 75 good deeds. After all, the MuK is one of the associations and organisations that we want to help in our anniversary year." During the cleaning campaign on Wednesday, 27 March, Andreas Weisbrod also lent a hand himself and then presented a symbolic donation cheque to Monty Mangold and Ronny Krämer. The two MuK board members - the third board member Daniel Hoffmann was not present when the cheque was handed over - once again emphasised the value of SWG's commitment: "As a music and cultural association run by volunteers, we want to offer the people of Giessen a varied and attractive programme at the lowest possible prices. At the same time, the costs of running the organisation are rising and we are constantly adding money that we didn't initially expect. The daily hire charge for a pallet truck would have been one such amount. We are therefore all the more pleased that Stadtwerke provided us with the vehicle and driver free of charge."
