Internship abroad for trainee at Stadtwerke Gießen

Next Sunday, Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) will be sending off its apprentice Abdülmesih Anter from Kleinlinden on a trip to Slovakia. The trainee is in his second year of training and is learning the profession of industrial clerk at SWG. Abdülmesih Anter is completing a three-week internship abroad in Senec in the Slovak Republic. This offers him an exciting change from his usual days at vocational school and working days in the office.

The internship abroad runs under the project name "Leonardo Da Vinci" and is aimed in particular at

teachers and students at vocational schools.

Leonardo aims to improve the skills and competences of young people in initial vocational training.

The project also serves to improve the quality of continuing vocational training.

Inwent GmbH in Cologne manages the funding programme from project application to implementation. Once the applications have been analysed, a national committee decides on the projects to be funded. Finally, a contract is signed with the European Commission.

Abdülmesih Anter visits the industrial company Montostroj together with a fellow pupil from the vocational school class and two pupils from the Max Weber School's advanced technical college. The company manufactures system formwork, excavator arms, anchors and couplings for bridge construction as well as silos and assembles concrete segments for wind turbines.

The aim of the internship is to familiarise himself with different working methods from other countries. Anter will primarily focus on Slovakian business processes in order to compare them with German processes. Within two years, there are different types of projects that are supported by the Leonardo programme. The mobility project in which Abdülmesih Anter is participating will take place four times in two years.
