Practice makes perfect - this is just as true for skating as it is for any other sport. On 16 August, five to twelve-year-olds will have the opportunity to learn new tricks and test out the modern course on the Landesgartenschau grounds. Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., Stadtwerke Gießen is organising a skateboard taster day for kids together with the Gießen Skateboard Club.
For most skateboarders, their sports equipment is much more than just a means of transport on four wheels. Their hearts beat faster when they stand with both feet on the board again after a daring trick and don't touch the ground. Particularly challenging: special jumps over obstacles or gliding over poles and edges. The new skate park on the Landesgartenschau site on Ringallee offers the best conditions for such tricks. Experts show off their skills here every day.
Children and young people who want to emulate these role models will have the opportunity to do so on Saturday 16 August. Together with the Giessen Skateboard Club, Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) is organising a skateboard taster day for kids between 11 am and 4 pm. "Whether advanced or beginner - children and young people between the ages of five and twelve are free to move around the entire facility and practise tricks. Experienced trainers and supervisors from the skateboard club will support them and give them valuable tips," explains Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at SWG. Beginners without their own skateboard don't just have to watch. They have the opportunity to hire sports equipment and protective clothing on site.
Young skaters and visitors to the State Garden Show can also look forward to show performances by the skateboard club. And if you are looking for a challenge that has less to do with skill, simply drop by the SWG meeting point and spin the big wheel of fortune.
