Last Saturday, Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) sent its trainee Larissa Rigelhof from Buseck to the Slovak Republic for an internship abroad. The trainee is in her second year of training and is learning the profession of industrial clerk at SWG. Larissa Rigelhof is completing a three-week internship abroad in the Montostroj industrial estate in Senec in the Slovak Republic together with 3 vocational and technical high school students. This offers her an exciting change from the usual vocational school days and working days in the office. The internship abroad is organised under the name "Leonardo da Vinci" and is aimed in particular at teachers and students at vocational schools. The aim of the commercial internship is to gain an insight into the work processes of other countries. One focus of the project is to present and analyse these as process chains. The Giessen trainees will also visit the vocational school in Senec. As part of their English lessons, they will present their respective training company there. Another aim of the internship is for the young people to discuss cultural and economic differences and similarities between Germany and Slovakia. Familiarising themselves with a new EU member state is particularly important for the pupils, as Eastern Europe is becoming an increasingly important growth market, especially for Germany. Last summer, one and three pupils from the Max Weber School completed a three-week work placement in Slovakia.
