Once again, the insolvency of an energy discounter has hit the headlines - this time it concerns Energieagenten Versorgungs GmbH from Troisdorf. However, former customers of the North Rhine-Westphalian energy provider need not worry. As the responsible basic supplier, Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) is supplying electricity and natural gas to the affected households in the region as a replacement. This is regulated by law. Important to know: SWG will be contacting these customers of Energieagenten Versorgungs GmbH over the next few days to record the exact meter readings for accurate billing. SWG offers reputable tariff options
In recent years, waves of bankruptcies of dubious energy discounters have repeatedly swept across the country, which previously acquired customers with bait-and-switch offers. SWG company spokeswoman Ina Weller comments: "The possible short-term savings often end up being paid for dearly. In addition to the annoyance or lost advance payments, those affected are initially categorised in the often higher-priced so-called basic supply tariff. We offer these households a quick and easy way to switch to their preferred tariff."
