Saving heating energy without sacrificing comfort - Stadtwerke Gießen will explain how this works in a lecture from the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" series on 26 November.
This year's November, with its cold, wet and foggy days, is not only putting a damper on long autumn walks. It also presents many people with the challenge of creating pleasant room temperatures while at the same time using heating energy sparingly.
This is precisely where Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) comes in with the upcoming lecture "Correct heating and ventilation" from the "Energy knowledge on Tuesday" series. An SWG expert will explain important correlations - for example between room temperature and energy consumption. He also gives recommendations on how warm it should be in different rooms and plenty of practical tips on how to achieve these values as efficiently as possible.
Nothing works without fresh air
In the second part of the presentation, the SWG expert discusses the optimum indoor climate. This much in advance: daily ventilation is essential. From a hygiene point of view, to prevent mould, but also in terms of energy efficiency. "Tilted windows don't provide the necessary air exchange," reveals SWG energy consultant Kevin Krempel. Instead, they allow a lot of precious heat to escape. They can also cause damage to the building fabric because the masonry above them cools down and condensation forms in these areas.
