Sales of the new Hessen schoolchildren's ticket start on 1 June. Almost two weeks earlier, on 20 May, Stadtwerke Gießen will be launching the pioneering offer with a campaign day in front of the SWG customer centre. Here, the mobility experts from Stadtwerke will not only provide information about the new ticket for school pupils and trainees, but also about all other RMV offers.
Hesse-wide mobility for exactly one euro per day - these are the conditions for the Hesse schoolchildren's ticket, which will be available from 1 June 2017 and will be valid from August 2017. It replaces the CleverCard, which was previously available to school pupils and trainees, as an affordable alternative to the regular season ticket.
The mobility experts from Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will be explaining exactly what the new, attractive RMV offer entails as part of their Hesse School Ticket Action Day on Saturday, 20 May between 9 am and 5 pm. In addition to comprehensive information on the new annual travelcard and, of course, all other tickets, the campaign day will also feature other highlights: RMV will be represented with two stands and will provide entertainment with exciting games. There will be attractive prizes at the SWG wheel of fortune. By buying a raffle ticket in favour of the "Tour of Hope", visitors can do a good deed and give themselves the chance to win a new car. Last but not least, Stadtwerke Gießen is organising the sale of tasty snacks and drinks at family-friendly prices.
Many plus points
The Hesse schoolchildren's ticket offers a whole range of benefits. The most important one: because the new ticket not only covers the fare zones for travelling to school or the training centre, but also the whole of Hesse, the range of possible uses is extended - especially in leisure time. Young athletes can use it to get to training or competitions, budding musicians to lessons and friends to visit friends. And all this without having to worry about a connecting ticket. But it's not just young people who are active in their free time who benefit. The Schülerticket Hessen also pays off on school trips - for example to Frankfurt, Marburg or the area around Giessen. There are simply no additional costs.
Another plus: the new ticket is issued as an eTicket. As a result, it offers the same options that apply to all digital tickets: fast, uncomplicated replacement in the event of loss, resistance to being washed and the option to edit your own data via the customer portal on the Internet.
Really good value
The following calculation illustrates how good value the Hesse schoolchildren's ticket really is: converted to a week, it costs around 7 euros. This means that a young person over the age of 14 only has to travel back and forth twice a week in the Giessen fare zone to recoup the costs. This fact makes the new student ticket interesting even if it is not actually necessary for school.
For all those who will need a ticket again from the coming school year, it makes sense to purchase the ticket, which is valid for twelve months, directly in August. Of course, RMV has also provided for later entry - always on the first of the following month. And: CleverCards valid beyond 31 July 2017 can be upgraded to the Schülerticket Hessen.
All further information on the Hesse schoolchildren's ticket - such as the exact requirements for purchasing it or switching from the CleverCard - is of course not only available on the campaign day, but also at the mobility centre in the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz or by calling 0641 708-1400.
