Children need exercise. All experts agree on this. For this very reason, the Schatzinsel daycare centre in Fernwald-Albach cooperates with the local traditional club TSV 1911 Albach: every Wednesday, its exercise instructor Susanne Horn works out with children from the daycare centre in the local community centre. Naturally, she has divided the 65 young athletes aged between three and six into four different age groups, who come to her in turn.

Until now, the project has enjoyed financial support from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport: Fernwald has received a state grant over the past four years as part of the "More exercise in kindergartens" initiative. "Because the funding is coming to an end and we want to continue the really useful collaboration with TSV Albach, I applied to 'Spiel' Dein Spiel' with this project," explains Andreas Jung, who recently joined the parents' council of the Schatzinsel daycare centre.

The positive response was not long in coming. "This application also shows us once again that we have taken exactly the right direction with 'Spiel' Dein Spiel' and the targeted promotion of youth sporting activities," explained Ina Weller, company spokesperson for Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), at the donation handover, which was also attended by Fernwald's mayor Stefan Bechthold at the Schatzinsel daycare centre. Stephanie Orlik, responsible for sponsorship at SWG, added: "What the daycare centre and the association have achieved together should be continued." And that is exactly what is happening now: 2,000 euros from SWG's Spiel'-Dein-Spiel sponsorship pot will secure the continuation of the gymnastics lessons for the next four to five years.

Special donation

The donation for the Schatzinsel daycare centre is a special project that SWG is including in the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" campaign. Andreas Jung is not only involved in the daycare centre's parents' council. He also works for SWG and is therefore the sponsor of this unusual donation, which is somewhat larger than the others. "We got the idea for this from our '75 good deeds' anniversary campaign," explains Ina Weller. Consequently, Andreas Jung is particularly pleased: "The fact that I was successful with my application really helps the Schatzinsel daycare centre."

With the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" campaign, SWG has been supporting clubs, institutions and groups that motivate children and young people to get active and play sport for over a year. The company has already supported 13 projects with donations as part of this campaign. It goes without saying that SWG will continue "Spiel' Dein Spiel" in 2019.
