On the United Nations' annual "Water Day" on 22 March, SWG is organising a guided tour of the waterworks in Queckborn, where a large proportion of the drinking water for the city of Giessen is produced. The information event takes visitors through the past and present of drinking water production for Giessen and naturally also provides rare insights into the technology behind the tap. Participants will not only learn a lot about why the "number one foodstuff" in Germany is one of the most strictly controlled resources of all, but also where exactly the water for Giessen and the surrounding area comes from and what special features it has.
There will also be plenty to eat and drink: three delicious soups prepared with the best drinking water will ensure that visitors' thirst for knowledge is quenched.
The bus for the waterworks tour departs at 11 a.m. on 22 March from the "Behördenzentrum" stop on the town hall side and is scheduled to return at 2 p.m. Registration by telephone on 0180 22 11 100 is essential due to the limited number of participants. Registration deadline: Thursday, 17 March.
