Two young people have completed their training at Stadtwerke Gießen, laying the ideal foundation for a start to their careers.
Many things are different this year. Due to the coronavirus, the handover of the final certificates for the trainees at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) took place on a much smaller scale than usual. Of course, this doesn't change the young people's achievements: Anna-Maria Thomaschewski passed the examination to become an electronics technician for industrial engineering, while Ahmad Abdalkarim has a certificate as a machine and plant operator in his pocket.
For both of them, the end of their training marks the start of a promising career: Anna-Maria Thomaschewski is moving to a renowned company in the region and is aiming for further training to become a master craftswoman. Ahmad Abdalkarim will remain with SWG for at least the next twelve months. He will strengthen the heat generation team. "This year, we were once again able to prove that good training pays off in more ways than one," says Ruth Biehl-Franze, Head of Training at SWG. The fact is that anyone who learns at Lahnstrasse has above-average chances on the labour market. As a result, not only SWG itself benefits, but also the entire region. After all, young people need prospects and companies based here need qualified staff.
This is why SWG is consistently pursuing its path. There is a link to the SWG training portal in the "Group" section of the www.stadtwerke-giessen.de website under "Careers". Interested parties can apply here now for an apprenticeship starting in July 2021.
