Once again this year, SWG's energy advisors will be giving valuable tips on energy efficiency at home. The first appointment will deal with the question: Which heating system is the right one for which building?
The first few months of the new year have brought cautious relief. After all, the feared bottlenecks in gas supplies over the winter did not materialise. In addition, prices on the energy market appear to be slowly stabilising - albeit at a high level. This means that 2023 will also bring major challenges. Especially when it comes to heating.
So when it comes to deciding on a new heating system, it makes more sense than ever to utilise the expertise of the energy consultants at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG). The team of experts passes on the knowledge it has gathered over many years to SWG customers. For example, in the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" lecture series, which will continue this year. "Now is the time to think about how to save energy effectively in the future," says Wilhelm Braun, Head of the SWG Customer Centre.
Concentrated energy knowledge
The lecture series starts on 28 March at 5:30 pm with the topic "The right heating system for your building". Legal requirements, state subsidies, the assessment of running costs and, last but not least, sustainability usually present laypeople with a problem that is difficult to solve. In addition, with the upcoming amendment to the Building Energy Act, the German government plans to only allow heating systems that are powered by 65 per cent renewable energy from 2024 - an additional challenge for homeowners. And although it is not yet clear exactly where the journey is heading, SWG's energy experts can shed some light on the situation. By comparing the various energy sources and heating systems - such as heat pumps, hybrid solutions or infrared heating - and analysing their advantages and disadvantages.
How energy efficiency works at home
The entire series of lectures covers a broad spectrum. This year, the focus is clearly on greater energy efficiency at home. "We want to provide interested parties with tools that directly help them save money and explain which investments reduce energy consumption in the long term and pay off," continues Wilhelm Braun. Consequently, the experts will also provide information about photovoltaic systems for your own roof, answer questions about connecting to the municipal utilities grid and give an insight into the SWG customer portal.
The online presentations take place online on the last Tuesday of every month and start at 5.30 pm. All events can be booked individually. To follow the exciting presentations on screen, all you need to do is register by e-mail by the Sunday before the online event. SWG will then send out a link in good time that participants can use to log in. Of course, participation in all presentations is free of charge.
The next topics at a glance
25 April, "Photovoltaic power from the sun"
What requirements must be met for the economic operation of a photovoltaic system? How can self-consumption be increased? And what smart offers does SWG have in store for those interested in the e-revolution? The SWG speaker will answer these and other questions on this evening.
30 May, "Grid connections from your municipal utilities"
Special house connections are needed to bring electricity, natural gas, heat and water into your own four walls. An expert explains how such a house connection gets into the building, what needs to be considered and what advantages a multi-utility connection offers.
27 June, "The SWG customer portal"
Simply enter meter readings, adjust discounts or update account details from the comfort of your couch - all this is possible in the new SWG customer portal. An SWG specialist will explain in detail how easy it is to use and what possibilities it opens up.
The presentations start at 5.30 pm. Registration at: energieberatung@stadtwerke-giessen.de
