When it comes to climate-friendly electricity and heat generation, Stadtwerke Gießen relies on its two thermal residue treatment and energy utilisation plants (TREA), among other things. In order for TREA II to go into full operation at the end of the year after TREA I, cleaning work needs to be carried out on the pipework. To do this, water vapour is blown into the pipes - this can be heard and seen from the outside. Stadtwerke will start the work in the 27th calendar week.
Water vapour visible twice a day
Jens Hanig, project manager at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), explains: "Twice a day, water vapour will escape from the system on our premises in Leihgesterner Weg with a hissing sound - once in the morning and once in the afternoon." Passers-by or residents who observe or hear this process need not worry, as it is a planned process. The cleaning of the pipes may take around two weeks until calendar week 29. If you have any questions about the work on TREA II, please call the SWG call centre on 0800 23 02 100.
